Point Cloud Processor - Convert LiDAR & Laser Scan Data (Coming Soon)

Professional point cloud processing tools for converting and analyzing 3D laser scan data in PTS, PTX, LAS, and E57 formats.

We're developing comprehensive point cloud processing tools for architects, surveyors, and engineers working with 3D laser scans and LiDAR data.

Point clouds contain millions of 3D points from laser scanners. Our cloud-based tools will enable conversion, decimation, filtering, and mesh generation.

While we build this feature, use STL Viewer for 3D models, Image Stitcher for combining scan visualizations, and Batch Image Processor for scan documentation.

Why use this tool

  • Convert between PTS, PTX, LAS, and E57 formats (planned)
  • Point cloud decimation to reduce file size (planned)
  • Noise filtering and outlier removal (planned)
  • Surface mesh generation from point clouds (planned)
  • CAD alignment and registration tools (planned)
  • Extract 2D sections and elevations (planned)

How it works

  1. Feature currently under development
  2. Use STL Viewer for 3D mesh analysis now
  3. Try Image Stitcher for combining scan views
  4. Check Batch Image Processor for scan documentation

Frequently asked questions

What are point clouds and why process them?

Point clouds are collections of millions of 3D points captured by laser scanners. Processing includes converting formats, reducing file sizes, cleaning data, and generating usable 3D models.

What file formats will be supported?

We plan to support PTS (ASCII point clouds), PTX (Leica format), LAS/LAZ (LiDAR), E57 (ASTM standard), and other common point cloud formats.

What is point cloud decimation?

Decimation reduces the number of points while maintaining overall shape. This reduces file sizes for easier sharing and faster processing, critical for large laser scans.

Can I generate CAD models from scans?

We plan to offer mesh generation (converting point clouds to triangular surfaces) and section extraction for creating 2D CAD drawings from 3D scans.

What tools are available now?

Use STL Viewer if you've already meshed your point cloud, Image Stitcher for combining multiple scan views, and Batch Image Processor for processing scan screenshots.
